Steaming racks are suitable for most foods including a wide variety of recipes; food cooked using steam holds it colour and flavour better than boiled food due to the kinder cooking technique which actually holds more nutrients and vitamins in the food too! Steaming racks are particularly useful in Oriental cooking when the rack can be placed in the bottom of a wok so that larger food placed directly on top can be steamed or a plate of small bits, (such as chopped vegetables, dim sum or chopped meats) can be placed on top to be steamed in a more managebale fashion. Alternatively, for a more traitional method, place your steaming rack on top of a saucepan and steam your foods by placing a domed saucepan lid on top.
